What do you need before a document is notarized?
What’s required before we notarize a document:
- United States Passport
- U.S. Passport Card
- Certificate of United States Citizenship
- Certificate of Naturalization
- Foreign Passport
- Alien Registration Card with Photograph
- State-issued Driver’s License
- State-issued Identification Card
- United States Military Identification Card
- Personally known, which means the Notary Public has an established relationship with the individual.
We MAY NOT notarize the following documents:
- Any Vital Record
- Court Records
- Documents issued by the State
- Certify the contents of or notarize a photograph

What areas does AKB Notary & Signing cover?
Mobile Notary Services are available to individuals and businesses located in the Richmond, Virginia tri-cities area. With a scheduled appointment you are assured that your documents will be accurately notarized at the time and place of your convenience; whether it be at a law office, assisted living community, hospital or medical office, your own residence or other convenient location.
Do I have to be present for the notarization?
Yes. Personal appearance is required for all Notarial Acts. A Virginia Notary Public can REFUSE to notarize a document.
What identification is accepted?
A United States Passport, U.S. Passport Card, Certificate of United States Citizenship, Certificate of Naturalization, Foreign Passport, Alien Registration Card with Photograph, State-issued Driver’s License, State-issued Identification Card or United States Military Identification Card. A signer may also be personally known, which means the Notary Public has an established relationship with the individual.
What can a Virginia notary not notarize?
Virginia notaries MAY NOT notarize any Vital Record, Court Records, Documents issued by the State, or certify the contents of or notarize a photograph.
Does AKB Notary & Signing handle real estate closings?
Yes. AKB Notary & Signing handles Real Estate Transactions for Conventional, VA, FHA, Private and Portfolio Financing, to include Purchase, Refinance, Seller Documents and all Mortgage loan applications to include Reverse Mortgages. Alicia is a signing agent who is bonded and affiliated with the National Notary Association.
